Milwaukee will host 2013 Moose International Convention
The Moose are coming to town — Moose International has selected Milwaukee as the host city for its 2013 International Convention.

The convention is expected to bring more than 7,000 delegates to the city, take up as many as 18,000 room nights and pump approximately $9 million into the local economy, according to Visit Milwaukee, the area’s visitors and convention bureau.

“The community came together in a big way to win this significant convention for Milwaukee,” said Brent Foerster, vice president of sales and marketing for Visit Milwaukee. “This group will occupy hotels, dine in restaurants and spend significant dollars throughout the greater Milwaukee area.”

Moose International, comprising the Loyal Order of Moose and the Women of the Moose, is a fraternal and service organization founded in 1888 with nearly 1.1 million men and women in roughly 1,800 lodges and 1,600 chapters throughout North America, including four Canadian provinces as well as Great Britain and Bermuda.

“We were impressed by the community’s desire to host us and the overall quality of the city’s hospitality community,” said William Airey, director general and CEO of Moose International. “We’re very excited about bringing our members to Milwaukee for what will be the first time since 1944.”

The Moose organization supports the operation of Mooseheart Child City and School, a 1,000-acre community for children in need, located 40 miles west of Chicago; and Moosehaven, a 70-acre retirement community for its members near Jacksonville, Fla.

The 2013 convention will mark the 100th anniversary of Mooseheart and on one day of the six-day meeting members will make the 100-mile trek south to the campus for festivities, then will return to Milwaukee the same evening.

“In the past 100 years, Moose International has been a model organization through its significant work with children, schools and communities, and I believe it deserves an anniversary celebration that will be remembered for another 100 years to come,” Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett said. “Milwaukee is the perfect choice for a celebration of this magnitude.”

Milwaukee Common Council President Willie Hines, a member of the Visit Milwaukee’s executive board, participated in a recent site visit by Moose officials that helped close the deal.

“This is a group of people who have a history of doing good deeds and working to improve communities throughout the country and the world,” Hines said. “Like all groups who select to convene in Milwaukee, they will come to experience our warm brand of hospitality and world-class attractions that make us a great visitor destination.”

Charlotte had 5 men, and 2 women, at the NCMA Mid Winter Convention at Greensboro, NC in February. We received the Highest Platinum Division of the Premier Lodge Award last year, and we are working hard to achieve it again this year. We need your help more than ever, if we are going to win it again. We have achieved every area except an increase in membership. April is one of our biggest months for members to pay their dues, and this year is no exception!

With Moose International dropping the enrollment fee until April 30, 2013. This will be a great opportunity for any member to sign two new or re-enrolled members up, and get your dues paid for one year. We need 11 more members at the end of this fiscal year ending April 31, 2013. In order to accomplish the final goal. We need to have one more member in good standing, than what we had at the beginning, of the year!

Please help us, by getting your friends to pay their dues, or if not a member. Please sign them up.

Time is Flying by, when we are having FUN!. What a wonderful time to be a Moose!

Can you believe that our Child City at Mooseheart will celebrate it’s 100th Birthday on July 27, 2013 and Charlotte Moose Family Center, and Chapter is going to celebrate right along side of them.

It is not everyday that someone or something reaches 100 years old, and have the record of serving children the way that Mooseheart has, and to have the outstanding record of impacting the thousands and thousands of Children's lives that have been entrusted to our care.

Everything that Charlotte has done to promote and support Mooseheart and Moosehaven has never been taken for granted, and it never will. Every individual work or donation that each of us has given no matter how small or large has had a positive impact in the lives of each student, at Mooseheart, and each elder Brother and Sister at Moosehaven.

The 2013-14 Nominating Committee's have been formed by Governor Jimmy Skidmore and Senior Regent Shirley Skidmore. The committee's are in the process of selecting the Best Possible Leadership for our Lodge next year. If you are interested in becoming a Leader of Charlotte Moose Family #1113, or Women of the Moose Chapter #1411.

Please get in touch with one of your Officers, or one of the members of each Nominating Committee. Let them know if you are interested in being considered for an elected or appointed Officer for next year! Looking forward to seeing as many as possible running for each Office.

Thank Everyone for their support of the Safe-Surfin Program Kick Off in Charlotte, with Movie Stars Erik Estrada, and Jason Campbell on February 27. What a wonderful time, and program!

WOTM Chapter #1411 Ladies and Brothers, don't forget April 13, 2013, at 7:00 PM. The night that the Men's Appreciation Dinner will be held in the Lodge Main Hall, for our WOTM Chapter #1411 Ladies. Remember that the Men will do all of the Purchasing, Greeting, Escorting, Serving, Cooking, Cleaning, and Entertaining. This is a Voluntary Program, that the Charlotte MFC #1113 LOOM Men will do to show how much we appreciate our Chapter Ladies, and all of the things that they do everyday to help us! It has been announced that the Ladies Dinner will be Rib Eye Steaks, Lobster Tails, and all the trimmings with Deserts!

"RSVP" Ladies, Please let us know how many will be in attendance, at this most important event. This is a very expensive meal, and we need to know how many to plan for? Thank You Ladies for what you continue to do to make us successful! Keep Up The Great Work!
